THE DOURO was the first Demarcated Wine Region in the world, created in 1756 by the Marquis of Pombal, a minister under King Dom José I. I was here that Portugal's greatest ambassador, the famed Port Wine was born.

Other excellent wines are also produced in the region under the Quality Label of the Douro, such as Red and White Wine, Reserves, Sparkling Wine and Muscatels.
